The RYA, which is the governing body for sailing in the UK runs a systems of accreditation for clubs and sailing centres wanting to offer training. For a training centre to be recognised by the RYA, it needs to show that it has the appropriate equipment, qualified instructors, and safety systems and teaches within the RYA guidelines. All recognised centres are inspected annually. There are a number of clubs and other centres in the area.

Oxford Sail Training Trust based at Farmoor is one of the larger centres which offers an extensive range of courses.

Dorchester Sailing Club is a family oriented club which offers training for young sailors on Sundays in the spring and autumn as well as 4 day holiday courses at Easter and in August.

Goring Thames Sailing Club is a small club that sails on the river Thames and offers some training
