2018 NSSA National Regatta

The NSSA National youth regatta is an annual event which brings together about 250 young sailors from across the country for a week of competitive sailing. The young sailors compete as part of a team, usually representing a county. Most of the competitors camp in a large specially organised camp site with dedicated areas for each team, and there are various evening activities laid on to keep everyone entertained. This years event runs from 23rd July to the 27th July at Datchet with camping on site.. The organisers website is here.

We plan to take a team to represent Oxfordshire, and we want to make the team as inclusive as possible. As in previous years will be running a tryout day at Farmoor so that we can asses if young sailors are at a level where they are going to enjoy the event. The tryouts this year will be on the 28th April details are available by clicking here. Those invited to be part of the team will also be invited to a training weekend at Farmoor which we expect to be the 23rd and 24th June.

UPDATE the organisers have now published a lot more information here.. notice that the costs mentioned on the website are just the event costs, We will have a team shirt made and we have one or two other small costs for the team so we will let you know the full cost as soon as we can. We’d never want money to be a barrier, and we are aware of some sources of funding, if you are interested get in touch.

Last years team did very well…. No pressure, just sayin….
